Road Race Championships

Competition Rules

Format

7 races to be completed and must include the following obligatory races:-
Two 10ks,
One 10 miler,
One half marathon and
Three Inter-club races
* For the Female Vet 60, there is no obligation to complete a half marathon, but if one is, it can count as a 10 miler


The list of races is as the Road Race Championship Listing 2008, as above.

Scoring

The first Harrier home will receive 20 points, the second 19 points, the third 18 points, the fourth 17 points, etc

Points will be awarded in the following categories:-
Open Male & Female to determine the overall Road Race Champion and in the following categories:-
Senior (Male Under 40), Senior (Female Under 40), Male Vet 40, Female Vet 40, Male Vet 50, Female Vet 50
Male Vet 60 and *Female Vet 60
Ages as at the first race of the series

The overall road champion will be the male and female with the best scores from the *7 races needed to qualify. If more races
are done than the obligatory then the best score(s) for each race category will make up the final total

Prizes will also be awarded for the *respective age category winners as long as sufficient races are completed.

Ties

In the event of any runner scoring the same number of points, the runner who has recorded higher places in the 7 races
will be placed higher. If this fails to separate runners, then the runner who has scored better head to head in the same races
will be placed higher. If these methods fail, then the oldest runner will be placed higher.

Adjudication

Any appeals and the overall monitoring will be carried out by the Road Race Championship Committee of Philippa Walsh, Alan Appleby & Steve Jackson.
