Technical Officials

New Officials Required

Preston Harriers need parents and friends of competitors to volunteer as Track and Field Officials. As numbers of Officials has depleted due to family committments, age, illness and a variety of other reasons new volunteers are needed to replace them.

Preston Harriers produces world class athletes from a pool of volunteer coaches. The same level of committment is now required to ensure that events are run efficiently, fairly and professionally. You may not be required at every event if the list of available Officials is long enough.

Clubs are often awarded points for providing officials at an event so you can even help the Preston Harriers to progress through the various leagues and competitions.

Training for Officials

Training is provided where required. Volunteers are encouraged to attend a Level 2 training course to learn about the technical aspects  of running an event but the course is not necessary to get started. Disciplines such as Race Starters and Time Keepers need some formal training before taking on the task and these are the skills that are most in demand.
