Salford 10K Road Race

GOOD FRIDAY - 14TH APRIL 2006  - 10 A.M. START

Please be informed that we have hit a problem.  However, this race will still go ahead.

Race Director Bob Towell went down on Sunday last to have the course re-measured to find that a collapsed wall at Kersal Vale was having major work done and scaffolding erected making it impossible to run our normal 10K course.  Checking with the Council this work will be ongoing for next six weeks.  Rather than cancel altogether they have found a course which will be trail an
road, going off Littleton Road to the canal embankment and eventually coming out and continuing on the back end of the normal 10k course.  This will be unmeasured and short of the 10K but at the moment not sure by how much.

Just to add more confusion - Further discussions have revealed that the works may be completed & the temporary lights removed in time enabling the original course to be used !

We should be obliged therefore if you would come prepared to run EITHER course depending on the circumstances. Please inform anyone else / fellow members etc of this potential change of course. If they do enter could they possibly put a note on the bottom of the entry form to say that they are aware of the changed course.

Many thanks

Hilary Towell - Salford Harriers

Kilimanjaro Marathon

"Run the Country (a new organisation providing off-road running maps and running tours) is organising a trip to the Kilimanjaro Marathon for a small group of runners in 2006. If anyone is interested in joining this tour at short notice we would like to hear from them. We will be taking larger groups to Kilimanjaro in 2007. Trips to the Two Oceans marathon and Comrades marathon are also being organised for 2006."
