Leyland Interclub - Wednesday 2nd September 2015

The final road interclub race took place in and around picturesque Worden Park, Leyland and there were several muddy areas to be avoided on the trails.
Over the 4.2 mile course, Patrick Dever in his first interclub this season led from the start, ran brilliantly and won in 22.22. Second placed Andy Benson (22.56) continues to show improvement and Gethin Butler was 3rd Harriers counter (4th overall) in 23.17. Blackpool then packed four runners in, but good placings from Jon Green (11th), Joe Donoghue (14th), Richard Smith (20th) and Steve Hallas (21st) went a long way towards achieving team victory and a final series win. The final open counters were Mark Lee, David Watson and Nichola Jackson. Jackson won the ladies race and Blackpool took a win and deserved series victory, by being consistent, by two points. After recent injury travails, it was nice to see Jenny Gornall out running once again.
The races are for everyone and played out in traditional club spirit. The mixing and sharing of race experiences afterwards by friends from rival clubs is very much part of what is a true friendly series. No doubt everyone is already looking forwards to 2016.
