Youth Development League Lower National Final, Bedford - Saturday 3rd September 2016

Youngsters show their class in the National Final
Preston Harriers under 13 and under 15 athletes battled valiantly against the 7 best other athletic teams in the country. The athletes won 26 individual medals (6 gold, 6 silver and 14 bronze) plus 1 relay silver and 2 relay bronze. The team battled gallantly against the larger city clubs and were swapping positions between 5th and 7th all match, finally finishing in a creditable 7th place.
Michael Fisher, the fast-rising sprint sensation, has made great strides this year and collected 4 medals from his 4 events. His greatest performance came in the under 15 boys 100m when he beat for the first time his arch rival Cameron Cicburri of Sale, posting a time of 11.76secs. against Cameron's 11.92 to win the gold medal. Gold in the 300m and bronze in the 200m was capped with a silver in the 4 x 300m relay with Ethan Tibbs, Tom Roberts and Isaac Sharples completing the quartet, running 2.37.39 just behind the Edinburgh team (2.36.34).

Emma Vickers continued her development by securing the under 15 girls hammer gold medal with a throw of 41.46m. Macy Noblett (under 13 girl) had an outstanding day, putting the shot 10.02m, the 6th best throw in the country this year to claim gold. She then won silver in the 150m and the 70m hurdles events, recording 21.16 and 12.57 respectively.There were further golds for Aaron Baird in the 'B' under 15 boys 200m and Emma Fulton in the 'B' under 15 girls 800m.
Silver medals were won by under 15 boys by Isaac Sharples in the 'B' 800m and Ethan Tibbs in the 'A' long jump. Further silvers were won by under 13 boys Thomas Durney ('B' 1500m) and Harry Burrows in the javelin.
Bronze medal winners were under 15 boys Ethan Tibbs, Thomas Roberts, Ben Preddy, Liam Wilkes & Harvey Noble. Under13 boys bronze medallists were Thomas Barnes, Ben Withers, Edward Cox, Kyle Sharrock & Charlie Hodgson. Bronze for the under 15 girls Darcey Lonsdale & Lauren Tunstall. In the under 13 girls age group Lauren Wood won bronze.
