Harrock Hill Fell Race - Wednesday 24th August 2016
19 Preston Harriers made the trip to Parbold for the category B Short 5 miles, 900ft climb race over the fields and tracks around Harrock Hill. First home in 5th place was Richard Smith, continuing his good form over the summer. Dave Parkington was 16th, winning the Vet 50 category. He was closely followed in 20th by Andy Whaley (V40), Mark Lee (V50) 29th, John Rainford (V50) 32nd and Chris Wales (V40) 37th.
Katey Foster had a good run to finish 2nd lady and 42nd overall. Next home was John Bradley in 65th, Steve Taylor (V60) 92nd, Mick McLoughlin (V60) 111th, Pete Carter (V50) 118th and Jenny Gornall 121st. Dad and daughter duo were next with Kate Lakeland in 154th followed 2 minutes later by Phil Lakeland (V55) 168th.
Ian Tomlinson (V55) 181st, Vicky Sherrington (LV45) 183rd and Dave Roberts (V65) 207th were next. Finishing in their first ever fell race were Sue Wickham (LV55) in 213th and Kari Edwards (LV45) 217th, who both found it tough going but still had a big smile at the end.
There were 227 runners and the race was won by Liam Burthem (Liverpool H.) in 32:52.
