Harriers Athletes Excel

2015 Eleanor NobletThe opening summer athletic meeting at Blackpool provides athletes with their first opportunity to see where they are after the winter months of training. 60 Preston Harriers enjoyed the sunshine to produce many lifetime best performance. Ed Jeans showed that he has wintered well to go 1st on the National Ranking with a throw of 59.83 metres in the under 17 Men's Hammer. He then produced lifetime bests in both the Shot and Discus with 12.38 and 40.11 metres respectively. His brother David had double success winning the Discus and Hammer in the under 15 Boy's with 21.76 and 28.95 metres

Emerging 10 year old prospect Eleanor Noblet jumped a lifetime best of 3.39 metres to win the Under 11 girls Long Jump. 15 year old Jack Ibison produce an outstanding performance by winning the 400 metres under 17 Men's on his début in the event, recording a time of 56.4 sec. Joshua Leatherd lead home a Harriers 1,2,3 with Dominic Johnrose 2nd and Jack Ibison 3rd. Joshua then went on to win the 200 metres. The shot produced a double success with Alex Bernstein and Lauren Tunsall both winning and setting personal bests in the under 13 Boys and under 13 Girls competitions. Lela Bendris returning from illness won the under 13 Girls 70 metres Hurdles. Euan Marsden won the under 15 Boys 3000 metres. Eden Ashton had a double victory in the 100 metres and the 100 metres Hurdles for Senior Women.
Preparation for next month's opening league programme is well under way. Harriers are looking for 11, 12, 13 or 14 years old Boys who want to Run, Jump or Throw with the view of coming for a trial.
