Preston Interclub Road Race - Wednesday 12th June 2013We will again be hosting the Preston Interclub Race from Vernon Carus Sports Ground, Factory Lane, Penwortham. The success of this event depends on the support of club members in volunteering to marshall on the course and at the finish funnel. If you are able to help please let Neil McDonald, Dave Watson, Steve Mort or Steve Jackson know in advance. Those of you who have taken part in this year’s races at Blackpool and Lytham will appreciate the fantastic post race buffet provided by the host clubs. Please help us to ensure Preston put on another fine spread by bringing sandwiches or snacks to the Factory Lane club prior to the race start. If everyone who comes along can bring something with then I am sure we can put on a spread that will match our fellow clubs. Your support is much appreciated. Mid Lancs T&F SelectionFollowing some misunderstandings at the first Mid Lancs of the season I would like to clarify the 'selection' policy I used. As in previous seasons, Mid Lancs has always been a turn up on the day and compete competition, with this in mind I followed the same format that has been used for many years (although it appears has never been written down) of first come and you get a place. Twelve Proud Preston Harriers ventured south to the capital for the annual London Marathon last weekend, all keen to put the months of training to good effect for the finishing line opposite Buckingham Palace. Two Harrier double acts worked effectively together with Stephen Mort and Stephen Needham crossing the line in 3.39.36 and Vince Walker and Greg O`Brien, good friends, ran together through the whole route and finished in 4:27.09. Completing the Preston Harrier entry was David Wakefield, who had a rough last few miles due to the heat and was forced to slow down, finishing in 4.56.32.
